Search alerts, Citation Alerts and RSS feeds

The library has a Web page about various alerts available through our subscriptions.

- Search alerts return database search results to your inbox when the database is updated. The search is pre-determined by you.
- Citation alerts are similar, returning alerts when an article is cited. Faculty members: this is great for annual reports!
- RSS Feeds are alerts returning new tables of contents, content of Web pages, Web logs (blogs), or are specifically set up by publishers to relay news items. A separate reader, or aggregator is needed to receive RSS feeds; some Web logs also send new content to your email inbox.

Science-relevant publishers or databases that provide alerts include:
- Cambridge Scientific Abstracts
- Compendex
- IEL - IEEE/IEE Electronic Library Online (IEEE Xplore)
- Science Direct (Elsevier)
- Web of Science

The URL is: http://library.ucalgary.ca/services/currentawareness/index.php
This is also available on the left-hand menu of the general Science Subject Web pages
